We are leaving on our first family vacation today! And this is what we'll be staying in!

Campground here we come!

We have NEVER been camping before so wish us luck! I'll be back blogging about it when we're back next weekend!

"He will belong to the Lord all his life"

(taken from 1 Samuel 1: 28)

Grayden was baptised in our church yesterday. It was such a special day for our family, one we had been looking forward to for a long time. Our pastor preached on 1 Samuel 1 and it was the most perfect passage I could have picked to correspond to our life. I have used the passage "For this child I prayed" many times in reference to our life with Grayden and it wasn't until recently that I read deeper into the last part of the 27th and 28th verses more carefully where it says "and the Lord answered my prayer and gave him to me. 28 Now I give him back to the Lord. He will belong to the Lord all his life." And this is what baptism is to us, our promise to God to bring Grayden up to serve Him and belong to his family. We pray everyday that Grayden will belong to the Lord all his life!

blog hopin' again

This weeks blog hop theme is "three things you didn't know about me/us". And its only fitting I participate after such a great response to my "reverse q & a" post last week! It was so fun getting to know some of you! And hey! Did anyone notice how familiar one of MckMama's (yes MckMama herself) post resembled mine? Great minds think alike. I am oddly flattered by that.

Ok, so back to the 3 things you don't know about me (at least I don't think you do)

1. On your honeymoon Robb and I swam with dolphins and it was one of the most amazing things I have ever done! So much fun. (sorry for the very bad scanned picture!) And speaking of our honeymoon did I ever tell you that only days after I took this picture we were forced out of Mexico by the biggest hurricane named Wilma? We had to leave 3 days early to escape but boy are we sure glad we did! We found out later that the guests who chose not to leave early had to stay in a school somewhere on the outskirts of Cancun/Riviera Maya for 5 long days with no running water or working toilets. Food was brought in from a nearby hotel and couples had to sleep on the floors of classrooms all snuggled up next to strangers....can you say romantic?

2. This used to be our home! Well, we didn't actually live in it while it was like this but it become what we now call home! Robb bought this old, nasty house when he was in college (I was a senior in high school!) for us to fix up and call home one day....we spent the next two years demolishing, planning, building, painting and installing EVERYTHING!! Robb even proposed to me in the what one day would become our dining room!

3. we (robb mainly) own an old Jeep that Robb spent many hours fixing and re-building (or whatever you call all that stuff).

We don't take it out as much as we'd like to anymore but it has been a fun summer hobby of ours for the past few years!

Wordless Wednesday

a day in the life of grayden and mommy

~6:30am daddy wakes up with Grayden to feed and change
~6:45am story time with daddy, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" was his choice!
~7:00am daddy brings Grayden to snuggle in bed with mommy just like we do every morning

~7:30 Grayden falls asleep and mommy watches tv in the bedroom, normally I watch the today show but the MJ thing is really not my thing so this particular morning I watched some infomercials….my weakness…I almost bought a Tan Towel… so i thought i better change the channel to Saved by the Bell (it was the episode when they were in Hawaii, my favorite!)
~8:00 I get up and get going
~9:00 I check on Grayden, he's still sleeping!! I check some blogs and watch the recent 'secret life' episode online…it was a tear jerker.

~11:00he finally wakes up and he’s HUNGRY!! Has a bottle, diaper change and gets dressed for the day! ~11:15 chills in his swing while mom finishes up getting ready

~11:30 head out the door to meet up with a friend for a stroller walk. but first make a stop at the cemetery to visit big brother Brenham’s grave site who was due to arrive a year ago today.

~12:00 pm we go for our stroller walk, as long as we were moving Grayden was sleeping!

~2:00 head home from our walk and visit
~2:15 time to eat, and change diaper again
~2:45 we snuggle on the couch and relax together.
~3:20 Grayden falls asleep on my chest…love it! ~4:20 decide I need to get off the couch so I move Grayden to the floor; he wakes up when I do so. Put him under his play mat and he chills while I make a pasta salad for the family party we have tonight.
~4:35 decided he didn’t really like playing on the floor so much and would much rather be worn in mom’s Hotsling ~5:00 we finish making the pasta salad and wait for daddy to come home!

5:15 daddy’s home! he feeds him, changes him to get ready for the party and spends some time snuggling
6:15 we leave for the party!
6:20-9:00 had a great time at the pool party, nice conversation, great weather, and delicious food, Grayden slept, ate and had an emergency diaper change (thanks Grammie!) followed by a clothing change
9:00 home watching the Tiger’s game9:30 boys are asleep on the chair….awww




~11:30 Grayden has his last bottle, diaper change and into his pj’s and swaddeled up for the night.

What a great day being his mommy :)

proud to be an American

our holiday weekend was jam-packed full of fun, but then again every day is fun now with Grayden in our family :)

We spent the majority of the weekend at my parents cottage. We went on lots of boat rides, ate a lot!, went tubing, went for a stroller ride and just relaxed with the family!

On Saturday we went to Wild Chef and Grayden loved watching the chef prepare our food and entertain us at the same time

after we finished dinner we headed to the fireworks, again Grayden did really well and slept during the loudest booms!

Sunday we went to church and then headed back out to the lake to finish up our weekend!
